I have copies of teacher recommendations in sealed envelopes and would like to send them to CommonApp schools. How would I do this using their online recommendation form? Can I just list them as recommenders and send the letter to the college.

In order to send recommendations via mail, you still have to list them on the Common App. When you invite them, however, don’t include an email address. Assign them to the schools they’re going to, and then mail the recommendations wherever they need to go. You can usually find the address for Undergraduate Admissions on the school’s website. When in doubt, email admissions and ask them where to send it.

^That’s right. Your apps won’t be complete unless you invite them as recommenders and assign them to your schools through your common app account.

You need to be sure they contain enough information that upon receipt at the schools they are matched to your application. For that reason, you might include another brief letter or simple sheet of paper with the recs in a larger envelope with your full name, common app ID, birthdate, high school and home address.
