Why does everyone say 117 is so much worse than 197?

I’d like to also get an answer to this question! I’m a BME major trying decide which physics set to take.

There is only one 117 professor and he’s bad, as you can see by looking at reviews online.

The 197 professors (on average) are better, the exams are easier, and the homework format in 197 makes it easier for you to learn the material.

I took 197 and 198. If you have the chance to take 197/198, absolutely do it. The lectures are more engaging, demonstrations are better, professors are more interactive since they know they are teaching a group of intelligent, motivated students, the exams are given with (effectively) unlimited time, and you will have a better foundation in physics to build off of wherever your focus of study takes you.

Don’t be worried about 197/198 being too hard, it won’t be. Remember, it is still a 100 level physics class.
