I am a pre-med student and a soon to be sophomore. I have heard very mixed things about both physics classes- so I just want to know the advantages/disadvantages of each. Which is graded easier, which is taught better, will they both prepare me for the MCATs.etc .etc. Thanks in advance!

personally i’d take 140. i think the way it is structured, it gives you a much better grasp on the fundamentals of physics. based on feedback from friends who have taken the life science physics, i think it covers material much more broadly than 135 and the electromag version of it.

135
Easy compared to 140
Doesn’t really teach you physics. Not satisfactory for the MCAT. You’ll need to study specifically for the MCAT some other time. I was fine with this so I did 135/235.

140
Hard - you’re competing against future engineers and physicists!
You learn a lot and will be ready for the physics section of the MCAT - assuming you can keep up with the class.

in my experience, 140 is a really hyped up class. in other words, it’s not as difficult as people say it is. make sure you keep up with the material and you’ll be fine. the exams are multiple choice…

also i dont know if it was just me, but it seemed like it was the engineers that were the most clueless in that class. maybe i was just surrounded by below average future engineers.
