so doesn’t look like i can get harris but i have to choose between weideman and webb…
i know how weidemen is (hard tests nothing like the homework and a huge curve) which scares me because i feel like the tests willl be hard to study for. does anyone know if webb bases his tests off homework? for those of you who had both teachers or either one what can you tell me as far as advice to do?

I had Weideman for 9AB and Webb for 9C. I would highly recommend taking Weideman. I honestly didn’t learn anything in Webb’s class, and it was disorganized beyond belief. His teaching method is to basically teach the entire class as algebra-based in 5 weeks, then to reteach it again with the calculus in the last 5 weeks. This not only means you learn the material twice as fast, but your labs and homework also do not match up with what’s going on in the class whatsoever.

Take Weideman. You’ll learn much more and there’s a better curve. In 9C, I had an A+ on the homework and midterms and ended up with a B- because of the impossible final. Plus, Weideman is just way cooler!

oh ok man this was really helpful! was Weideman’s curves better too? i tend to be the type of student who is really good with concepts and im also good at math when it is clear what the questions are asking when I read the book before the test well enough. I’ve just heard horror stories about weideman’s tests being impossible… Im also an EE major so 9C is pretty important to learn well.

Weideman’s curves for 9B were tremendous… like, ludicrously so. I had a 28% on an exam, and it came out to a solid C.

Weideman, in my experience, emphasized the concepts and the mathematics equally. Webb seemed to just emphasize the concepts (until the final, which none of us were prepared for.) Overall, I learned more in 9A/B than I did in 9C, so I would recommend Weideman if you need a strong foundation in Electricity/Magnetism.

Ugh Harris… Some people like him, I don’t. Engages the class, but everyone is stupid and sidetracks the conversation into nowhere.
