I am taking AP physics C next year and I’ve heard various things about how hard the class is. I didn’t want to take AP physics 1 or honors physics since I did HS level physics in middle school (independent study bc I was bored with middle school science). I enjoyed it and understood the course material well, but understandably I’ve forgotten a lot of it because it was 2 years ago. Any good resources that I could use to brush up my basic physics knowledge? Also if you took the class/AP, what is the best strategy to do well? Thanks very much!
*If you saw my other recent post, the school I am considering transferring to also offers physics C, so I will probably end up taking it either way
Just take AP Physics 1. Things you learned two years ago won’t stick, especially in Physics C.
@thisisfine2020 my school only offers honors physics and physics C, so if I don’t end up taking C, then I’ll take that. I know I definitely want to take physics C before I graduate but I’m not sure if I can clear up room in my schedule for 2 physics classes(only 6 periods) so do you think a summer course in HS physics would be sufficient? Thanks for the reply
@annana I took a physics course over the summer prior to me taking AP P1 (which is really just our school’s Physics H class with the name changed after the test was introduced). What you must realize is that CC summer courses are 6 weeks long, much shorter than a typical college class. You don’t cover much in that amount of time, and to me the class was basically useless.
No one says you have to take two physics in one year (my school actually banned that with all subjects years ago). Take Physics H or whatever this year, Physics C the next.
@thisisfine2020 I wasn’t going to take 2 in one year, but even then I’m not sure if I can fit 2 physics classes over 2 years in(heavy grad requirements). I’ll have to think about it some more but thanks for your help!
Talk to the Physics C teacher about it. I think it would be hard to jump right into that, but if you are interested and motivated to learn over the summer, I think it could work, especially if you’ve already had at least AB calculus–that will make some of the material easier.
