What is the best way to prepare for Intro Calc and Physics classes? How difficult should i expect them to be? I will be a freshman.
Take Physics AFTER Calculus, not at the same time.
Pre-med students usually take biology, chemistry, and calculus the first two years, leaving physics for junior year.
Do Calculus and Physics usually hurt GPA at UT? I am a little worried about the difficult at UT because it is known as a Public Ivy
current UT student here: I’m going to vaguely quote a calculus professor “All of y’all can make an A in this course. The issue is whether you are willing to put the work, and challenge your thinking processing.”
Personally, I worked around 1.5 to 3 hours every day on Differential Calculus and made an A. I worked 2.5 hours to 4 hours every day on Integral Calculus and made a B-.
Both classes I didn’t attend office hours of the professor. I regret not asking the professor for assistance for Integral. I probably could have made an B+ or A- if I did.
Calculus can have a wide variety of grade distributions depending on the professor. Intro physics has a poor grade distribution for most professors. You can check your specific professors for the semesters you are looking into taking it though.
