Physics B vs. Physics C

How much harder is C than B? My school does not offer an AP Physics course, but an Honors Physics which follows the majority of the B topics. How difficult would it be to put in the extra effort and take the C exam

Someone said that B and C have the same concepts, but C uses Calculus and B uses Algebra.

itd be quite difficult to take C exam with just honors physics. it goes more in depth than even B. i cant imagine the gap between honors phys and C.
and yes physics C requires basic integration and differentation.

Physics C is much more focused than Physics B. Physics B has breadth but doesn't go too far in any one subject. Physics C focuses on Mechanics and E and M, and requires more rigorous mathematics specifically integration.

they dont call it Physics ***** and Physics Cool for no reason... (bad joke FTMFL)

Go with C if you're more into math.

Physics C FTW

My summer homework for physics C is to just know how to find a derivative =)

Back to OP's question, if your school does not offer AP Physics (B or C), and has Honors Physics, which you say is similar to Physics B, you will likely have a very difficult time self-studying to take the AP Physics C exams (they split it up between Mechanics and Electricity/Magnetism). Focus on studying from the AP Physics B self-study guides and assuming you do well in your Honors Physics class, you will probably do OK with the AP Physics B test.

Go for it if you have the initiative, enthusiasm, time (ie summer) and the mathematical knowledge (differentiation and integration rules, and some differential equations for EM). I started self studying for the M test with only some knowledge from "conceptual physics"-level material, and it isn't that difficult...

i thinking leaning towards B now b/c im only starting calc next yr, so all tha crap i wont be able to do for C
would u say that Physics B to the Hnrs. Physics type courses would prlly be similar to AP Chem to a general Chem course? My school did not offer AP Chem so I just studied the guides in addition to school, and i think i should be able to pull off a 5

EM calculus can be a doozie...I had taken calc BC the year BEFORE and 5'd it...but the physics translation of the dA's and whatnot took a few weeks for me to get the hang of...

yea, im gonna do B then. thx for all ur input
