physics class....

hey everyone. well im taking the 1st of 3 physics class and im gettin owned. i think its because i came into the class expectin it to be easy (because i took ap phys in high school and excelled) and when u come into a class thinking u already know the stuff, u dont try as hard as u should be.

i didnt drop it because a) im gona have to take it eventually b) if i drop it my whole winter transfer schedule is F'd and to me, missing my winter transfer schedule is not an option.

i was just wondering if any1 has had the same struggles that ive had. because this semester has been my hardest yet and even though i count 6 weeks left in the semester, i dont know how im going to make it to the end with at least a c in physics... thankx for hearin me out

You really gotta buckle down and study harder than you ever thought you could before.

My last semester at community I was struggling in Calc 2, because I suck dick at math. I studied my ass off for a B.

Studying at a UC is on a whole new level from studying at community. So think of it as getting ready for better study habits in the near future.

ok cool that is some inspiration i was hoping to hear :). i know im not alone in this situation but sometimes it just feels like i am.

preparing for uc study is a good way of putting it  :)

dude i suck at physics too. totally know what you mean.

anyway… you can try asking the professor for help during office hours [and if he sees you putting an effort into trying to raise your grade, i think he’ll have a good impression and perhaps be more lenient on you too]

or ask the tutorial center at your school?

also, you can go to cramster.com. its like a free student solutions things for lotsa subjects; but im not sure if they’ll have your physics book.

alsoooooo i’d be glad to help if you need it [no guarantees; physics isnt my forte either]

oh right!

and if you google sample physics questions, they usually tend to be pretty similiar so that should be good practice too

Buy study aid outlines that just have solved problems, something like [Amazon.com: Schaum’s Outline of Physics for Engineering and Science: Michael Browne: Books](http://www.amazon.com/Schaums-Outline-Physics-Engineering-Science/dp/007008498X). This was something that would have been invaluable to me in my first physics class, you really learn this stuff the best by just having worked out examples. The problems at the end of the chapters were garbage IMO, they tried to make them too applied when sometimes you just need a bunch of the same problems with the numbers sort of switched around. Also use [math tutoring academy algebra pre-algebra at khanacademy.com](http://www.khanacademy.com) for short 10 minute videos on the stuff that is sort of difficult.

Mechanics will be the easiest class in the series, so you really need to develop whatever skills/ study habits then that work for you to get you through the rest of the series. About half my class ended up failing electricity and magnetism and just about everyone passed mechanics.

This article helped me a lot: [How to Get Straight A’s in College (with Minimal Effort) | Universities and Colleges](http://universitiesandcolleges.org/how-to-get-straight-as-in-college/)

wow this is amazing! ive never really searched the internet for study guides and the like. (but in the past i never really needed to). im gona start looking into these right now!

as a matter of fact im currently reading this long essay on how to study physics. it was written in 1955. but its a great read!

heres the link:

[How To Study Physics](Donald Simanek's Pages; science, pseudoscience, education, humor.)

here are some great quotes from the essay that i think you guys should read :)

heres one about all the time we actually have

and now im going to get to work on some physics homework. tomorrow i will get to looking up all the above links provided. thankx!  :)
