Physics major seeking quiet dorm

What are some suggestions for a freshman physics major whose priority for housing includes having just one roommate but most importantly, a quiet dorm? (Yeah, I know the last two words are an oxymoron, but I am really want as quiet a dorm/floor as possible.)

Loudness and rambunctious behavior should not be an issue at ISU. When I visited campus earlier this spring, the dorms were as quiet as can be. It just seems that this school’s students just aren’t boisterous like most college students. Because of such a demure campus culture, I have found a more appealing university. And wow majoring in Physics is tough, but I’m sure you’ll do great, as you’ve already demonstrated your commitment to studying.

Not sure if you are male or female. If you are female I would strongly recommend Oak. It is all girl and has a brand new dining center. My daughter is in this dorm this year and has loved it. She was very disappointed at first to not get into a coed dorm, but now after almost a year, she is so grateful. Mostly very clean, quiet and in a great location on campus.

The boys equivalent is right across the way. Do not go into Maple/Willow/Larch or Friley. These are bigger dorms, coed and can be very loud.

I’m a current student here at ISU.
As a physics major, though buzymom3 has the right idea volume-wise, she doesn’t have it location-wise. The dorms you’ll want to stay in are on the West side of campus, Martin, Eaton, Friley, or Helser. Helser is by far the loudest, with Friley being next. In Eaton and Martin, which is where I live now, you won’t be bothered at all. When my roommates and I are studying, it’s incredibly quiet because we either keep our door closed or we go to the dens. If we want to be social, all you have to do is open your door, walk around the hall, or just go next door to Friley!

Don’t do Maple/Willow/Larch. That’s where the parties happen.
