I am a junior who is picking my senior year courses.
I plan to be a computer science major.
My course lineup so far is:
AP English Literarue
AP Macroeconomics
AP Calculus or AP Stat
My question is, for my major, is Physics (regular) or AP Chemistry more suited for me?
If you attend a school where the CS major is engineering-based, you are likely to need to take physics; high school physics (as well as calculus) is commonly a recommended prerequisite for college physics. Some such schools may also require chemistry or allow it to fulfill a science requirement; some (not necessarily all) may allow AP chemistry credit to fulfill part of such a requirement. Schools with non-engineering-based CS majors may not require any non-CS science. You can check each school of interest to see what requirements it has.
On the math, calculus will generally be required for CS majors, and AP calculus credit is commonly accepted. Statistics often is required (or may be embedded in other required courses), but AP statistics credit is unlikely to be accepted against such requirements.
Why not:
AP English literature
AP calculus
Physics
AP chemistry
social studies / humanities / arts courses (perhaps AP economics if that is of interest)
