physics subject test june 2011

Son took physics subject test yesterday. Thought it was very hard. Left 5 blank. Of the remaining 70 questions felt he had them down to 3 choices - any ideas on probability of how he did?

bump - Please any input would be helpful

physics curve is perhaps the most generous. you can get about 10 incorrect and still get 800.

your son should know how many he is sure he got CORRECT. without that, prediction is hard.

may be he should try another subject test which may be more to his strength.

Thanks for the input. When I first asked him he was guessing he got about 1/2 right and leaving 5 blank. For his prep, he did only the first 23 question and got 16/23 so about 70%. He said he felt that they were similar to what was on the actual test.

Unfortunately he did not have the time to prepare the way he should have. He also took math 1 which he felt very confident about. I’m just asking because I don’t know if we should consider cancelling his score. He only needs these for BU and UDEL (so far), and I’m guessing that as long as they are ~600 or so it would be fine.

Any additional input would be helpful - thanks.

let’s do simple math. 70 questions with 70% correct=raw score of 49-5=44 – that would be about a 670.

70 questions 65% correct=raw score of 46-6=40 – -a raw score of about 35 would still get him over 620.

it’s reasonable to expect that he will get 600. no point in cancelling score. the best is to retake it or take another sat 2. colleges consider only best 2.

i didn’t realize udel requires sat2? is it for a scholarship?

Thanks - if he can get in the 6’s I think that is fine for the schools he is looking at that requires SAT II’s. I think anywhere in the 6’s is respectable.

UDEL - recommends SAT II’s but they are not required, and they don’t care what you take either. My guess is that the score - as long as it is 600 or better will be fine -

don’t worry about it. i took the may one, left 7 blank and guessed on a handful of them and i got a 720. The curve is really really generous since the physics subject test is pretty hard

jeez, you people are complaining that the SAT 2 physics is difficult ! its easy when you see that you can get 10 wrong and still a perfect score. For people like me who are from India, we dont even have to study to give the SAT 2 ! and half of us end up with 2400’s anyway ! i guess our science programs are much tougher and your english ones are better, but it cant be compared because English isnt our first language.

Oh brother!

but applications from the US have stronger EC’s which we cant match up to, sad . :P

indian ■■■■■ lol…
