Hey, guys - I'm a senior and I was scheduled for Latin III and Lab Physics, but they clash and I apparently can't take both.

If I can't take both, which should I take? It's Lab Physics, it would be my fifth science and Latin III is just as non crucial because I already have 4 years of Spanish under my belt.

That depends on your dream subject. If this would be my fifth science, I would take latin without thinking about. Who takes latin today? It would make you outstanding! Latin will help you in whatever you want to study - law, medicine, science, history... anything!

^ Actually, a ton of people take Latin, especially all the people who bother going on this site.. lol most of them know Latin, as do I.

Personally [of course, because I'm biased...] I would do Latin III. It helps in a variety of fields and it's just dead useful [no pun intended ;D]

Although my opinion might be a little too bias because I really did not like Latin (took it for 3 years). But if you have 4 years of Spanish already, why take Latin. Take a 5th science.

You already have enough of both science and foreign language, so you should take whichever class you think you'll enjoy more. In my very biased opinion, that class should be Latin.

Which do YOU want to do? What do you want to do in college and later on? If you want to do something mathy or science-y then take physics. If you want to do something humanities-based then take Latin. But if you want to become a doctor or go into law then take Latin because it is very helpful when learning technical terms.

UNBIASED:
if it's a good calculus-based physics, take it.
if it's not: it's probably worthless, you'll have to relearn it all anyway, might as well take Latin III

Useful in life? This is high school. A vast majority of what one learns in high school is trivial.

If anything, H.S. is the best time to enjoy classical languages and literature, because most people are too busy in college fulfilling general and major requirements.

If you live in a place that offers free online classes, you can take both like me :D I wouldn't have been able to fit Physics in my schedule, so I'm taking it through florida virtual school. Also, my school doesn't offer Latin, so I took all three years of it through flvs too :P I love my online classes.

Take Physics; it's more useful. Latin is a dead language and isn't spoken by many people. It makes more sense to learn Spanish now instead of Latin.

^ I'm biased, and I like Physics fine, but Latin is very useful. I don't see how you can say it's a dead language: open a law book- Latin. Open any science book- Latin is practically on every page. Also, what do you think is the basis of Spanish, French, and even English? Latin. By no means at all is Latin a dead language. It's practically in everything.
