Hey everyone,

I am an incoming engineering student at U of M. I was pretty set to take Organic chemistry this year until I realized that I can take physics first then take Orgo Later. Right now I have Engr 101, Orgo 210/211 and Math 156 (might add English 125 on that) But I just don't feel like I am ready for Orgo yet because of a lot of horror stories about it. I took AP Physics (non calculus) class in high school so I have the concept down in my head.

What would you take if you were in my situation? Would Orgo too hard for freshman compare to Physics? Yet it seems like it is too late for registering a new class...

Thanks in advance!

Well, just from my own experience, if you had a good physics program in your HS you should find Physics 140 to be easy. Of course I took an AP Physics that was Calculus based so it might have readied me a little more.

There was hardly any calculus in Physics 140 and a lot of kids did poorly, but I know of some, myself included, that found it pretty easy because we had AP xp under our belts.

I take it you took Physics B? I know that’s not as hard as Physics C, but I think you’ll be fine.

Also, why are you taking Orgo? Are you doing Chem Eng?

Yes, I am. I am also a pre-med, so Orgo is a mandatory to me.
I guess taht Physics 140 is hard as well? But I don’t know if I can deal with Orgo as a freshman… soon or later I would have to take them!

Any other thoughts about physics…?
What do most ChemE students do??

Physics 140 is much easier than Orgo
