<p>Hey all current and prospective Barnard students! </p>
<p>So, I’m nervously trying to decide my schedule for my first Semester at Barnard this fall. I never thought that picking a four class schedule could be so hard, but it is! Especially without the help of a guidance counselor and without much knowledge of the classes like I have been used to from high school.</p>
<p>Here’s what I’m deciding between for 1st year Eng. and Sem.</p>
<p>English:
Between Legacy of Mediterranean or Women and Culture.
Seminar:
Between Reacting to the Past, Ethnicity and Social Transformation, or Animals in Text and Society. --BUT, many of the others looked great too, so this is really tough!</p>
<p>So ladies, if you have any insight PLEASE PLEASE let me know. It would be much appreciated =]</p>
<p>Also, as far as the other classes go:</p>
<p>From what I understand, Freshman are required to take a PE class either 1st or 2nd semester. Would you recommend taking a PE class in addition to 4 academic classes? This is what I plan on doing and might do it for both semesters since I’m not big on sports and it seems easier just to get the requirement over with early. What’d ya’ll do?</p>
<p>And does anyone have any recommendations for a 1st year planning to eventually dual major in Political Science and Economics (with possible minor in Economic Policy…specific, I know). I plan to eventually pursue a career with the UN or an organization that is involved in fostering the relief of global extreme poverty–something like economic/city planning in impoverished villages, etc. </p>
<p>Is there anything at Barnard close to an international relations major other than poli sci?
And I know I can’t just focus on this one interest because there are the “9 ways of learning” reqs. to fulfill! What should I do to start fulfilling these requirements but also pursue my interests?</p>
<p>If you can’t tell, I’m pretty lost as to what my 1st year program should consist of! So any help at all would be much appreciated.</p>
