Picking a major

what majors are advised for undergrad students for aspiring vets

You can pick whatever undergrad major that you want as long as you get the prerequisite courses done. My son is pre-vet majoring in animal science. Other are majoring in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, zoology, environmental engineering, other ag degrees, even business. What you want to do is look at vet schools that you want to appy to and look at their prerequisites, then when you are choosing a degree see how you will fit the prerequisites in. Have a backup plan. Pick a degree that you would be happy finding a job in if you change your mind or don’t get into vet school. For my son it was a little different because he has guaranteed admission to the vet school if he keep a certain GPA in his sciences and he can enter after three years. That affected his choice of majors. Hope that helps a bit.
