Picking between UCLA and UCSD

Hello, I am a transfer student that got accepted into both UCLA and UCSD! I was accepted into UCLA for mechanical engineering and I got into UCSD for chemical engineering. I am having trouble picking which of the two colleges to attend.

I love both of their campuses, but I enjoy the La Jolla and beach area near SD more than the LA scene. I don’t get any financial aid from either campus so pricing will be about the same. The most important factor in choosing a college, to me, is the research opportunities that I’ll be able to get. Are the opportunities about the same at each college? Are there any differences in hiring prospects after graduation?

Seriously? This matters more to you than whether you’ll end up being a mechanical or chemical engineer?

And for some reason this is the deciding factor when you’ll be entering the job field of engineering where undergrad research is not at all important?

I want to work in the alternative energy field and I know I can go into the field with either major.

UCLA, because it’s larger, more prestigious, and in a larger city, is probably going to have more research and internship possibilities. It’s also only 20 minutes to the beach, so not so bad.
