picking classes at new student orientation

hello. will be heading to new student orientation this coming monday. i’m a bio major and will be taking LS30A, LS7A, and 71A. as i was perusing the enrollment site, i noticed some lectures were already closed and over enrolled.
However, today, they opened up a lot more spots in those closed lectures, and i started planning my fall schedule. But just now, i saw that all those open spots were taken, and now the lecture is closed again.
Will they continue to open up new spots in those closed lectures, throughout the summer for incoming freshman?
Currently there are 3 lectures in LS30A with a total of 232 spots. I hope they allow more than that into LS30A.

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Have you emailed the department or the professor to ask about getting into the class?

My daughter had a similar situation (also a biology class) but at a different university. She emailed the department ahead of time and got a response to chat with a particular professor at the orientation. When the orientation came along, the professor was there, expected her, and everything was set and she was added to the class. Obviously I can’t promise that you will have the same luck, but having the department know in advance that you will be asking about it can’t hurt and might improve your chances.

thanks. i’ll see what i can do, although not sure i want to bother them over the weekend

as they say on the orientation website, they reserve spots in classes commonly taken by incoming frosh so that everyone gets a fair chance no matter which orientation session they attend.
