I got some e-mail about backpack, and a checklist of sorts about what i should be doing before orientation and before i leave for AA this fall.

I managed to lose both...

Do i need to have an idea of the classes i need to meet my major and english requirements, if so should i start looking online....or is this the whole purpose of orientation.

Also if anyone has the link to backpack or the checklist I would greatly appreciate it.

THANKS

The checklist was probably just important stuff to bring to school. You can find lots of similar lists online (probably CC, too). In case it was orientation specific, just make sure you bring a fan if possible. East Quad doesn't have AC, and it can get damn hot.

As far as classes go, you don't have to have things picked out ahead of time, you kinda do that at orientation. But of course, it never hurts to plan ahead. I had most of my schedule planned out before orientation, and only ended up adding a class at my counselors suggestion. What "backpacking" means is that on wolverince access, you can kinda put together a pretend schedule before you officially register for classes to make sure nothing conflicts. So during or before orientation, you can pick out which classes/sections you want before the final day when you can actually register.

They tell you freshmen year is when you should be exploring and finding what they like, so they say to not worry too much about major requirements yet, though you can start if you're pretty certain you'll stick with it. The english requirement is great books if you're in honors, and english 125 or a first year history seminar for general LSA.

Yeah, thanks.

I found the checklist(lol, damn you automatic email management) which is...

for those interested freshman it is very helpful, say in case you forgot that you had to send in your vaccine info, dont know where to take the math test etc.

Take a look

Unusualsock, I'd highly recommend reading through the course guide and getting a good idea of what you'd like to take and what you need to take before going because a) academic advisors don't know what you want nearly as well as you do, and even if they did, their advice often sucks, and b) your academic future isn't something to be considered in a matter of an hour or two. If you have questions, feel free to shoot 'em at me, i was doing this stuff all year, though you'd do well to get acquainted with requirements yourself.
