Picking classes?

I'm a freshman at one of the middle-range UC's, and since we're on the quarter system I am supposed to pick my classes for the next quarter in a week or so.

I plan on applying as a Fall 2010 transfer at some ivies and some top 30 schools as an International Relations major (my school doesn't offer it).

Currently I am taking Math 3A (calculus, 3-part series), writing 2, environmental studies 1 (including an honors section) and biblical hebrew A (3-part series)... I know my classes are all over the place -- the selection and availability at my school sucks. My question is:

-- Should I continue with math and biblical hebrew? They're not required for my major and don't really benefit/interest me... I was sort-of forced to take them because of the horrible availability of classes here... I'm just afraid that not completing the series would look bad.

And, if we're on the case, what are good tips for class selection, especially for a transfer applicant? Should I focus on major requirements or on my GEs?

Any advice would be appreciated.

anyone?

always focus on GEs, because they are more likely to be accepted wherever you end up.

Higher Level Courses look much better than GEs, albeit they could be inconvenient to xfer.

They show initiative, commitment, and willingness to take on a challenge. If you stay within the same subject are it shows focus. However if you do not like the subject, than don’t take courses in that subject.
