Well, there was a request put in to see pictures of dorms, buildings on campus where classes are, and the surrounding neighborhood of campus. I'm not a freshman, so I don't live in a dorm, and can't show you those inside pics. It's finals time at the moment, so no classes, but I went on campus today for work. I just took pictures as I walked to campus from my off-campus USC apartment, Troy East, so most of the pics you will see are the walk of a typical second year and above USC student to campus (people walking from a lot of USC housing, frats and sororities, etc, will be taking the same walk I'm showing you; aka maybe you in a year and a half).

There are also some pics from on campus. I have pictures of some buildings from the College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences, as well as Communications/ Journalism. I don't have that many pics of buildings from on campus, because I only took pictures of buildings that I came across while walking to and from wherever I was going.

Sorry for any pictures that are blurry or not centered. I didn't want to look like a dork or a tourist of anything, so I tried to slyly take my camera out and take pictures without anyone noticing. :)

not that it's as relevant but you might want to take a photo of the Popovich as it's one of the newer buildings and campus and kind of neat, or Tudor hall.

also for living i'm sure some people would like to see that parkside plaza area as well as some of the newer conquest housing places, as well as the tower of hoover, as they generally are pretty nice private owned apartment complexes.

Yeah, I'd like to see them, too, considering I am never on those parts of campus. Since it's finals, I don't really have time to walk all around to random places to take pictures. I only took pictures of places where I was already going.

whoa, greedy people. uschicka took pictures for you at all. That's way more than I (or most other current students) would do. Try being greatful instead of just demanding more pics!

Now no one make me out to be a saint or anything. I didn't go out of my way at all to do this. I just went about my normal business and just happened to whip out a camera and take a picture here and there. I didn't even stop walking to do it. :) But going across campus to Popovich or Tudor, or Conquest Housing? I'm not that nice... (unless I'm going there already).

But that doesn't mean I won't accept trojangirlie's nice words. :)

What a pretty neighborhood. I wonder why everyone says its so bad. Its hard for me being from NY - all of LA looks sort of nice to me compared to many NY areas. Thank you Chicka - very nice photos

hey hey now, dont give me guff! i already go to USC, i'm not asking for these pictures for ME, i'm saying it for others, so mayhap you are being a bit selfish saying that eh?

yes it is finals, but perhaps later on or something you should think about that. Perhaps on a later date i'd think about doing it but i dont even own a camera anyhow.

but here are are photos of Popovich and Tudor, but cool buildings, and both have cafe's so i hang out there even when i dont have business to take care of there (of which at Popovich i pretty much never do because i'm not a grad student).

it's all relative, it depends how far out you want to go to find said ghettos. The pictures that were put of the residential area is the commonstudent area though, i beleive the east, west and souths ends of campus probably look worse but there isnt much of a reason to go into, or even live in them anyhow, the northern area is where a bulk of the students live at that proximity.

I'm sure you could find some ratty looking storefronts off figueroa, jefferson or hoover, but again you have to be looking.

Again the real ghettos are south of USC (and they only start to get serious a ways south) but again no really ever goes south of SC (unless they're on the highway).

People love to say USC's in the ghetto, but as spincut says, the area that students really ever go into (like the pics I showed), is not bad at all.

Is Tudor the new one they opened right next to Kaprielean (sp?)?

That would actually be cool if someone really posted pictures of the areas South of the Coleseum and/or West of USC. I should do it since I aint scared! ;)

no, the building next to kaprelian is a new nano-biology (i think) building, i dont know the name and it isnt finished just yet.

and you can take pics of the west and south area if you really want, but again no one really goes or lives there, as most of the close proximity housing is the north part.

albeit Conquest is building that very shmaltzy new complex southeast of campus right next to the new parking structure off figueroa and exposition, but that wont be around for a while yet.

Per another request to see more of the area, here are some shots taken of the UV, our local "shopping center". It's in the same album as before, so you'll have to scroll past the other pictures.

Thank you so much for all the pics, uschicka. I can't wait to get to USC in August, especially since the weather here has been miserable lately.
