Pike

Anyone know information about PIKE? I hope to be in the bschool, can I handle a frat and still manage a high gpa?

PIKE recently joined Fuji in raising money for Relay for Life and they're our number one donor ($30,000-40,000 a year).

That said, I know a lot of people who are both active in their frats and the business school from community service activities. A majority of people who participate in Relay for Life are in fraternities and many of the committee members (basically the leadership of the project) are in both the business school and fraternities.

I'm not one into tool-ism, so take this as you will: I think being in a fraternity gives you lots of opportunities to boost your resume as long as you're in a good one and can handle it. That said, frats are completely outdated and this coming from a pretty darn traditional girl from the South.

well, is PIKE a good frat?

solid group of guys

For the most part Pike has solid people in it, but I would definitely check out other frats as well. Just make sure you attend 3 or more rush events at the fraternities you are really interested. Also, if you are interested in business, then joining a fraternity is not a bad idea at all.

a fairly decently-sized percent of the b-school is greek. its definitely possible to do well academically while being in a fraternity, it just takes a little bit more focus and time management than otherwise.

Tool-ism in what ways? Because someone likes to shotgun a beer to the dome and enjoy the music? Please..

OP, make sure to check out all the frats during rush and not just the frat you heard from a friend.
Edit: I think joining a frat while in B-school is the best thing you could possibly do to strengthen your chances for the future.

Tool-ism in the doing extracurriculars/community service purely for the sake of a resume way.
