Okay so I am trying to choose between the University of Pittsburgh Honors College and Allegheny College for pre-med. I am strongly considering a major in history. Pitt has given me about $4,000 more in financial aid. I'm leaning towards Pitt because of the accessibility of the hospitals for volunteer and research opportunities, but I am somewhat nervous about the size, advising, and quality of professors. I have very good test scores and will be valedictorian at graduation, so I will probably be towards the top at both schools, but higher at Allegheny because of the size. It seems to me that I would be more comfortable at Allegheny with the small classes and accessible professors, but Piit provides countless opportunities that I would not be able to get at Allegheny. Which would you choose?

Wow that’s a tough one. Allegheny would be better for history and will probably help with GPA (which is all-important for med schools) but Pitt Honors is hard to pass up due to medical opportunities.
It sounds like your heart says Allegheny and your head says Pitt… what’s your gut feeling?
Call Allegheny and ask what internships opportunities are available in the summer for premed students, whether they have a partnership with any teaching hospital or medical/health-related companies/offices/clinics…?
