Stowmom, If you look at the colleges ACT stats for honors college they're between 30-32. In their literature they also say there are no " definite" requirements for admission.

I recieved my letter last Friday. I was wondering how long it would be until other info. (housing, financial aid, etc.) would be in the mail.

Hey, just posting this in another thread to get more views:

How did you guys list extracurriculars/awards? I'm filling out the application right now and there is no place for any of that. Did you guys send in a resume as supplementary material (as Other)? I'm thinking of sending in 3 letters of rec (AP World, AP Phys, Band teachers), an essay, and a resume of extracurrics/awards. Do you guys think that's overkill? I'm interested in UHC and a full tuition scholarship. Thanks for any help guys!

Hello5, I just stated what was on the honors college website in regards to post#127. Eligibility Here it talks about eligibility for the honors college. Even if you aren't in the honors college you can get permission to take honors classes.

Lipitch, you can e-mail your resume as well as any supplemental information (such as an essay) if you're applying online. Follow the instructions given in the freshman admissions section of the website so that your information is properly credited to you.

Thanks LurkNess!

I was reading a letter from Pitt today and it said that, "in the scholarship review, any indication of your interest in the University, such as a campus visit, may be a factor in your eligibility for scholarships." Although the letter said the oafa will reimburse me 250 bucks + a night of hotel accomodations to come visit, the tickets alone to Pitt from Hawaii is probably like 600 dollars one way. There's no way I'd be able to visit. What are some other ways I can show my interest in Pitt?

Wow, I can't believe they expect a kid from Hawaii to visit! That must be something new. Anyway, to show interest, you can contact a professor in your intended major and e-mail him or her to ask a question or two. You can ask Admissions if there's any Pitt alumnus in Hawaii you can speak too (probably highly unlikely). Maybe others will have better suggestions!

Also, I'm wondering why you want to attend Pitt. Is there anything in particular that attracted you?

It's close to basically my dad's entire side of the family. I probably have a decent chance at getting a full tuition scholarship + UHC. It's a good safety school for me considering my stats and the chances for free money. UHC sounds like its a pretty good program too. I was pretty interested in the info they sent me about their engineering department among other things.

Well, being close to your dad's side of the family is a huge plus. Make sure you tell someone in Admissions about that. Also, the engineering school received a large donation last year, as you probably know. And the full-tuition scholarship is great. Best of luck to you!

Are there any real reasons to do a BPhil other than to know that you can?

I am going to live off campus next year. any ideas

i was just accepted to Pitt and the Honors College. I'm pretty pumped but the only thing is that i never got around to submitting my essay and resume. I also doubt that Pitt received my teacher recs.

I'm looking to receive some sort of merit aid and I want to be considered for graduate school guarantees. So should I still submit my essay and resume or is too late now?

If I were you, I would submit the essays and resume as soon as possible, and make sure you get a confirmation (if you're e-mailing). It wouldn't hurt.

Yeah I think that's what I'm gonna do. thanks.

i have a question..
i applied to the College of Business Admin. at Pitt.
if they dont accept me into the business college for whatever reason, will i still be accepted to Pitt anyway??

How long is the turnaround from when the application is complete to the decision? If you know? I see references to two weeks.

MY DS1 visited, loved the honors program, applied on the spot, and has moved the school from safety to seriously contemplating. His application was complete in late September, and, on the basis of these stats, should be very competitive for the honors program.

Your son should be hearing very soon!

Teazer-
Depending on when you submit your FAFSA, you should expect your fin. aid info in March or later. You get the housing info...uh, maybe a month after you send in your enrollment deposit? (sorry, I'm not too sure about that-last spring was a long time ago...)

i live in squirrel hill for the second year in a row. reasonable commute, nice neighborhood. sq hill ftw.
