Pitt or UDelaware?

My son was accepted to Pitt and Delaware Honors Program. Money ends up being the same. He wants pre-med. Which do you think is better option?

Pitt is definitely a better school for pre-med. Not only are the programs prestigious and highly ranked, the Medical Center right across the street is affiliated with the University and provides for many research and field opportunities.

I agree. Pitt’s med complex is huge…several major hospitals adjoining the campus.

Delaware if he’s anti-urban…otherwise I’d choose Pitt. Esp if he can do Pitt honors.

The two are comparable in terms of campus life and academic ratings, but Pitt has a much better location (trust me, I live near the U of D) and a better program for students aiming for the medical field.

Haven’t visited Pitt yet (going end of this week), but Delaware’s campus is really pretty and Newark is a decent-ish college town. (This coming from an in-stater who hates the school in general.) No idea about pre-med, but it sounds like your S didn’t get honors at Pitt, in which case it’s not quite as easy a decision.

It seems from the information that I’ve been sent, that many honors courses at Pitt are open to students that aren’t “officially” in the honors program. I don’t know what the requirements are for taking these courses, but if your S got in honors at UD, it probably wouldn’t be a problem.

If money is the same, the Pitt.
