Pitt requesting mid-year grades

I got a letter from Pitt in early January requesting mid-year grades. I applied in late October. I definitely understand why they want to see my senior grades as I had around a 3.5 weighted GPA when I submitted my application. I scored a 2030 (superscored) on my SATs and a 29 on the ACTs, though I did not send those in. I’m about to send in my mid-year grades, but I’m wary still about getting in since I slacked off in one of my classes again. Here are the stats for senior year:

Anatomy (regular, no weight): C
Physics (honors): A-
English Lit (AP): A
Psychology - only one MP (regular, no weight): A

I know I would have such a higher chance if I had gotten at least a B in anatomy but failure to turn in all the formative assignments really took a toll on my grade. The blame is all on me but I just really wanted some opinions–do I have any chance of getting in still? Also, is anyone in the same situation on the request for mid-year grades and has heard back? What were your stats?

Hey hey, I also got a letter requesting mid-year grades in December. I applied in October as well. I had a 4.0 and an 1890 SAT. I’m pretty sure my counselor just sent my grades but I sent them an email to make sure and ask when we should expect a decision (I’ll keep you updated). I think you should send it in your SAT, you did so well! I think having a C in one class isn’t a horrible thing honestly. On my transcript I have two 78’s from my sophomore and junior year and I even repeated Trigonometry. I’ve gotten into schools like Penn State and Rutgers even with that. Colleges understand these things happen, not everyone is perfect. My mid year grades are:
AP English- 95
Honors Pre Calculus- 83
AP Biology- 83
AP Government and Politics- 91

@AshLaur, “The blame is all on me” is a good starting point but “failure to turn in all the formative assignments” is really something needed to be fixed in anywhere. I would send a letter to honestly explain why the “C”. College wants you to be successful in college and beyond. The “C” is not due to your incapable of doing a good job but the sloppy or whatever you have to learn from now… just my two cents… GL

@classof2020ny I’m surprised you were not accepted with the 4.0. I have heard back from Penn State and Rutgers as well, but Pitt is much higher up in the list for me :frowning: . Your mid-year grades look good I think you have a good chance! Thank you for your encouragement, I’ll try to stay positive, and please do keep me posted!!

@J2H239 Hi, thank you for your opinion. Unfortunately, I’m scared that sending in a letter to explain will hurt me more than help, as may grade is lower BECAUSE of me not doing the work. I don’t think they will appreciate that. Thoughts?

Did you answer the short questions after submitting your application? I would not worry too much the C if others are reasonable good in your application as a whole. GL

@J2H239 I did answer them. Ok, thank you. Also, just wondering–if you applied, did you send any teacher/counselor recs/resume? I know they did not specifically ask for them but I think they could help? I did not send them initially.

Pitt generally does not pay attentions on those. In the situation you have, I would send 1 or 2 letters from your current teacher(s) in ASAP to tell AO that you are capable of performing good in college if you are not sloppy anymore. You may ask your counselor’s advice tomorrow morning and see what you could do. GL

What was your English and Math score on the ACT and CR and Math on the SAT?
