Hey guys, was hoping anyone could give me their insight on this one.
Accepted to both schools Honors programs and business schools.
As a PA resident, Pitt is obviously much cheaper although my parents told me to make this decision without thinking about the money aspect.

This is my insight, if you attend BU or and would like to chime in or know something that I dont it would be appreciated.

Pitt offers me: a solid school, the perfect fit that I’m looking for including great school spirit revolving around the schools sports, a city with many opportunities, a diverse education with diverse friends.

BU offers me: a solid school, a good fit in that the city is awesome (Boston>Pittsburgh) and also there is a strong hockey tradition at BU (I am a major hockey fan).

sounds like both are a good fit for you but it more comes down to just wanting to be farther from home and just being a little bit more independent. i know nothing about pitt’s school but i’ll let you handle the research. assuming that they’re equal, why not get away from home? i’m from california and i’ve learned soooo much being 3000 miles away.

you may also want to consider visiting the 2 schools if you have time. that could really make it or break it. the diversity here is huge so dont worry about that if you haven’t heard. if you end up finding that you don’t like where you are, transferring is always a possibility but i doubt that’ll happen.

note: BU’s campus is a long stretch integrated into the city. there isnt much of that classic “campus look” here

My D attends Pitt and my son was accepted to BU. First time visiting BU reminded us a lot of Pitt. My D loves Pitt - Pittsburgh does have a lot to offer for a smaller city. And Pitt has lots of school spirit for the football team and basketball team (they call it the Oakland Zoo for a reason). Very easy to get all around Pitt on public transportation free to students. And you will definitely find a diversity at Pitt with economic, political, urban vs rural backgrounds. I definitely think BU is a great school - but if there is a huge difference in cost - I would choose Pitt over BU. Good luck to you in your decision.

I would give BU a chance. I think you can probably find similar opportunities in Boston as you can in Pittsburgh. BU is also noted for having a pretty diverse student population with lots of international students. If you are eschewing price as a decision-factor, then it all really comes down to one thing:

I reallllly love hockey and I’m sure I would LOVE college hockey at BU. Do students actually attend the games though? This is one of the things I’m weighing as Pitt has so much school spirit when it comes to athletics and I don’t see that or don’t know about it at BU.
