Hey guys, was hoping anyone could give me their insight on this one.
Accepted to both schools Honors programs and business schools.
As a PA resident, Pitt is obviously much cheaper although my parents told me to make this decision without thinking about the money aspect.

This is my insight, if you attend Pitt or and would like to chime in or know something that I dont it would be appreciated.

Pitt offers me: a solid school, the perfect fit that I'm looking for including great school spirit revolving around the schools sports, a city with many opportunities, a diverse education with diverse friends.

BU offers me: a solid school, a good fit in that the city is awesome (Boston>Pittsburgh) and also there is a strong hockey tradition at BU (I am a major hockey fan).

I think this decision is pretty hard. Both of the schools are ranked equally and similar opportunities. I think the only way to actually decide is to compare the the costs, even though your parents told you not to. If you can pay for BU easily, than I’d go with BU because its a private school and its in Boston (there are so many really good schools in that area like Harvard and Tufts, you could probally try to cross register if you’d like.) But, if your parents are going to make you pay for it, I think you should go with Pitt, especially if you are planning to go to graduate school (which is a lot more expensive). Just think if you really want to leave school with a huge amount of debt.

If you haven’t visited BU I would strongly suggest it…Boston is a great city but many people have a problem with the layout of the campus, it’s definitely not for everyone. There’s no defined campus and it’s basically located on one of the busier streets in town, while Pitt has its own space and you’re not smack dab in Pittsburgh.

I am a big proponent of moving to a different locale, if possible, for college. I think it’s good to live in another place for four years, to meet different types of people, to expand your horizons. It’s something I didn’t have the opportunity to do when I was your age, and that’s a pity. Pennsylvania is a large and diverse state, and I don’t know where you’re from. If you’re from a rural area or small town, Pitt might be a big change for you. Still, 75 percent of the kids at Pitt are in-state. Going to BU would give you the chance to meet kids from all over.

As far as BU’s campus goes, it is more urban than Pitt’s, which does have grassy lawns for hanging out or playing frisbee.

Pitt. No question unless you’re rich. BU is ridiculously expensive and is pretty much on the same level. No education is worth 40k a year + housing.

Just to clear up a few things.
I visited both schools and liked them both. I am from Philadelphia. And my parents are paying for my undergraduate education, and while I wouldn’t say we are rich, my parents do have enough to pay for 2-3 years of bu in my college fund thanks to smart investing which is why they want me to make the decision without thinking about the money side. Funny that Im not paying for it and I’m more concerned about the money side than they are.

Hockey Fan? Pens vs Bruins…where do you’ll think you’ll be able to see the better hockey over the next four years. BTW, the Pens have a student rush program where they reserve a few reduced-priced tickets for students for each game. In any case, take that money you’ll save by going to Pitt and by some tickets to watch Crosby and Malkin. Nothing better than Pens-Flyers games either. The bus ride (free public transportation w/ a Pitt ID) to the arena is about 5 mins from campus.

As far as college hockey, Pitt has nothing like BU and the beanpot. If you play, Pitt does have two club teams you could consider trying out for, or even go watch (though the rink isn’t on-campus). College sports would be infinitely better at Pitt though since they have major college football and basketball.
