I plan on majoring in civil engineering, and am looking at these two schools. Can somebody give me some feedback regarding these two in engineering generally and in civil engineering, completely independent of any other factors?

Can’t comment much on Cincinnati, but Pittsburgh was a great city to live in when I went to college. I know Pitt’s honors college offers a few extra opportunities if you get in, plus there’s cross-enrollment at CMU if a course isn’t offered at Pitt. I’d take a look at courses offered by each school to get an estimate of how large each program is, as well (possibly also recommended curricula or graduation requirements).

I’m not sure how true it is, but from what I’ve seen CivE salaries tend to be fairly flat across different schools, so it might be worthwhile just to go to whichever offers you the best deal (if all else feels equal).
