Pitt vs. Penn State

So, as a college senior, it's nearing my time to decide on a college to go to. I want to be a mechanical engineer and I always just assumed that I would go to Penn State. But the other day I visited Pitt, just to see what it was like, and I really loved it. Now, i visited PSU too, and I also loved that just as much.

Now, obviously, when you visit a school, they're going to tell you all the great stuff about that school. they might not include the bad stuff.

So thats where you guys come in. What are the negatives of each school? I mean if you went/go there, what did you like and dislike about it? thanks!

Have you been admitted to both? If not, wait, the decision may have been made for you.

I’d say it depends whether you’d rather live in a city or in a college town.
Personally I think you have your whole like to be a young adult in a city, and only 4 years to have a chance to live as a student in a college town, so I’d go with the college town, but some students have lived in a city or in a rural area their whole life and can’t wait to live in a big city, so ymmv. In addition, Pitt’s neighborhood is great.

Academically, Penn State is stronger than Pitt, but Pitt is far from shabby. Engineering at both will be strong.

What did YOU love about Pitt?

As MYOS has said, PSUP is a college town, and a great one at that. The local economy is built around the school; it really is an interesting environment.

Both are excellent for engineering, so you can’t really go wrong.

I don’t really have any insight about the downsides of each, so I’ll leave it at that.
