Pittstart Course Registration & AP Results

I know Engineering will have spots set aside for Engineering majors. DS got a list of classes and spots available in various classes (psychology etc.) when he did his PittStart. They also had sections of the required courses set aside for Engineering students so registration was very painless :)

It is true that they are reserving spots for PittStart. My D registered on honors day and althought there are 20 spots left in a PoliSci class that she wants she was unable to register as they are reserved and will be released a few at a time at each PittStart. I guess early registration does help but not entirely.

I was able to talk to someone from the PittStart program and he told me that they try to ensure that everybody gets to register at least for the required classes. He didn’t tell me how they do that exactly, but he did say that the late Aug PittStart is extremely popular with families who live far from Pittsburgh, and was intended as such–so if I’m a whiner, I’m clearly not the only one

You do, indeed, get to move in one day early if you do the last PittStart. As far as classes go, you may or may not have as much flexibility in terms of professors and/or times. It all depends on exactly what classes you plan to take.

When and how did your daughter learn that the class was not available and how many spots there were left? On registration day?

She met with her advisor on April 9th which was one of the Honors Days. As she was registering her advisor did not understand why she was able to see available spaces but could not place D in a spot. A different advisor explained that only a certain amount of seats were avail at each session. She does not have to go to PittStart since she registered on Honors Day.
