I noticed that all incoming freshman are required to take some sort of placement exam. I'm in social ecology, so the only test I must take is the UC Analytical Writing. However, the only date available for this exam is March 3. How can I sign up for it if the UCInetID thing can't be activated till "early May"?

Also, is this test only given at UCI? Not anywhere in the Bay Area?

The Analytical Writing Placement Exam is structured like SAT testing, where select schools are hosting the exam. Sadly, I think May 12th (a Saturday morning) is the only day that the test will be offered at select high schools. Keep in mind that you can only take his test once (if you pass, you can skip the first quarter of writing at UCI, which I think is Writing 39A).

Keep in mind there are certain ways to opt out of this test (such as 680+ on the SAT1 Writing test) or scoring 3, 4, or 5 on the AP English tests.

I'll be a biology major.. and it says I have to take the Chem test... umm.. I dont remember A THING from Chemistry.. so what happens if I fail it (I actually want to take regular Chemistry again)

If you plan on taking Math 2A/2B/2D at some point, I'd suggest that you take the Math placement exam. The chemistry placement test is easy as hell. I took it after a one year hiatus from honors chemistry and I got an 83%. It's mostly math and logic, no real chemistry except for mixtures.

Where can I check as to what placement exams I must take? I know for a fact that I must take Analytical Writing exam because I scored a 670 :( on the SATs

I think you just need 680+ one time, because on the ucop site they say that you can still take the SAT (right now) and try and get a high writing score (and flunk the math and reading sections)
