Placement exams and freshmen registration

I was trying to figure out when freshmen will be picking classes and when they will be able to take placement exams. Does anyone know? I was reviewing class prereqs and some of that depends on the exam results. Will we be actually talking to an advisor before picking classes?

I believe that someone at the Accepted Students weekend mentioned that course selection materials will arrive in June. I don’t know about the placement exams though. Maybe you can call and find out? Will you post whatever you learn here? Thank you!

For what it is worth, they also said that it very, very common for a first year’s course selection to change during the first week after they meet with their advisor. She said to make you best guess but realize it may change.

Most of what you need to know should be here:

There are a number of forms that say they’ll be available May 23rd, so I would expect that to be the date you can fill things out (although the housing form seems ready to go now via an ISIS login). We aren’t sure if the ISIS ID given to applicants is permanent or temporary, so we are waiting to fill anything out.

This was difficult for my daughter who started last year. The process is unclear and pretty much no help was available during the summer. I’d call. Be a pain. Do you have a mjaor? go to ISIS and print out all the requirments. Start knocking them down.

Just to follow up on this, placement exams were available for the last four weeks or so. You take the exams online. Math results are displayed immediately, language results will be within 24 hours, and the chem results will be a few days. Do this early enough so you can have the results in time to unlock some of the classes that you are looking for. Today, Monday 6/9 at 12:01 (Sunday night), registration for freshmen classes began. The best thing to do is to plan well in advance as to what you want and need. Look at your intended major and see what prerequisites are needed.
