Hi guys,
I just received a bunch of emails regarding the placement exams for chemistry and math (both online)
I would like to ask you guys the difficulties of these exams.
I have taken both AP Chemistry and AP Calculus BC last year and got a 3 and a 5.
This year (senior) I did not take any science or math class, so I have pretty much forgotten many things.
Will this be a huge problem?
How hard are each of these exams?
Thank you in advance for your answers~
I took AP Calc my junior year and chemistry (non-AP) my sophomore year, without taking any math or science my senior year, and still got high scores on both the placement exams. I would suggest going to Sparknotes or looking at old class notes to do a quick review of algebra and basic chemistry (e.g. balancing equations). That’s all I did, at least.
My memory of the chem placement is that it was mostly algebra. I recall there being one or two equations to balance…but honestly don’t remember many details beyond that. There was nothing more advanced than maybe the beginning of a standard HS chem class on the chem placement, and certainly not as advanced as AP chem. The math placement was pretty much a review of basic high school math. If you’re good with algebra, you’ll most likely be fine for both.
