placement testing/orientation

wait, I dont think I understand. what does it mean to petition it? and if I dont, they will just count the class as a way to get out of the test and not as an actual grade? In any case, im gonna have to find another way to take the AWPE because it was today and I missed it, so i'm gonna have to take it on a different date or something

is it possible to be exempt from all placement tests? because that's what i'm interpreting the little chart as saying for my case....(or maybe i'm just really confused lol)
as a social sciences major, the only test i really need to take is the writing one, but i'm exempt thanks to my SAT score. also, since i'm not majoring in econ, i don't have to take the math test, correct?

What date are you guys choosing for the testing? Is it the sooner you do the better? Do you required to have a UCI id card before taking the test?

can anyone sign up for the placement testing for math/science/etc yet? i've tried but it said that my student # has to be verified or something .. or is the date that i can start registering for the tests the same date for SPOP registration, may 18th?

seriously, what's going on?? I am trying to sign up for placement tests as a "Newly Admitted Student," but i cannot log in because they are requiring me a social security number that i dont have (i am international). I tried logging in as a "UCI student," and they only show me few test date options.

Again, has anybody been successful at signing up for placement tests?

taniuxka20:

Since you are an international student, you need to apply for a social security number asap, because that is the only way that the govt can keep track of all of your records and it is the ultimate type of verification of your identity. The social security number allows you to sign up for your UCI ID card, and from there you sign up for test and get your ID number.

you can't sign up for orientation until this friday may 18th

does that mean we cant sign up for placement testing til friday too?

I just signed up for both orientation and a placement test. They are early this time!!

how did you do that? i go to the page, and it says to wait until may 18

Log on to this with your UCI email ID and password.

http://scoter.vcsa.uci.edu/~orientation/reservation/step1.php

I went there and got this-

"Reservations for orientation open May 18, 2007 at 12 noon. Contact the Office of the Dean of Students if you were instructed to visit this website prior to that date and time."

i got the exact same thing..that we have to wait untiil may 18....seriously uci is so disorganized!

Don't you guys get this?

In order to reserve a space for UCI Orientation, you must log in with your UCInetID and password. If you have not yet activated your UCInetID, you will be given an opportunity to do so.

Why am I so special? I even got the confirmation to my email address.

dude, i did log in using my UCInetID, but still it shows the message where it says you have to wait until may 18th...

OH, maybe they were testing it and I sneaked in !!

It is already confirmed so I don't need to do it tomorrow at noon.

then, you are ONE LUCKY MAN!!! 'cuz tomorrow the network will most definitely get all saturated

is there any chance that they will run out of space and you don't have to go to orientation?

the honors people can register early.

Sports players might be able to register early for orientation too.
