Instead of taking a placement test I know I won't pass, can I instead just not take it at all and make up for it in an elementary class? Or do I have to take it for orientation purposes?

Thanks.

Any idea guys?

You can't pass or not pass a placement test. It's for placement purposes to find out how much you already know. It's in the school's interest to put you in a class where you'll be successful, and you may know more than you think you do. Why not place out of a course if you can?

It is not fair to others in a class who have had no experience with the materials to be placed in a class with others who have had some or extensive high school background. It's demoralizing as well as unfair if there is a curve.

It's also more interesting to you, if you are in the appropriate class. I've seen a lot of students try to take a class they think will be "easier" because of their high school background, and so they get into bad study habits because it seems so "easy." All of a sudden, when they encounter new material, they hit a wall because they are not prepared.

You have nothing to lose by taking the placement test.
