Placement Tests

When will these be administered? I know that Princeton has a foreign language requirement, if I want to place out, when will I have the opportunity to do so? Same with other subjects. Thanks!

Language placement tests will be available online from July 15 to August 15.

All students who plan on taking introductory courses at Princeton in a language they have studied in high school must take a placement test in that language. Detailed information regarding the fulfillment of the University's foreign language requirement will be posted soon.

Is that also for people who just want to fulfill the foreign language requirement and not take higher classes?

Yes, it is.

thanks, gr elton.

unless you have ap/satII credit in which case you don't have to take the placement test

I did IB SL French and got a 7, I also got a 730 on SATII French. Neither of these TECHNICALLY give me any advanced placement (you need a 7 at HL french and a 740 on SATII), but they are so close to doing so that I feel a bit hard done by. How can I present my case?

Take the placement test. If you score well enough on that, you'll be exempted. If not, you'll just have to take the requisite language course. It's frustrating, to be sure, but the fact is that you scored below the cut-offs, which for better or worse are hard limits.

wait.... so if the AP table says German AP 4 / GM SAT II 740 you need both the AP and the German SAT II tests to place out??? I thought it was just one of the two..?

You only require one.
