Placing out of classes with new ap rule

Ok, I know that from now on, UPenn will not be giving class credit anymore for 5’s on AP exams. But what about just placing out of a required class, so you could take a more interesting or major-related class? Can you replace those classes with AP exams?

I don't think that's entirely true, I believe they still give credit for some AP's. http://www.admissionsug.upenn.edu/applying/advanced.php

do you think this policy you linked to will stick around for the next couple of years? or is it just for this year?

there's a new rule? The list looks the same to me. If something isn't covered by an AP or isn't mentioned that you think should be, you have a few recourses. You can petition for credit maybe, you can try to take a placement exam / exam for credit(?), not waste money on the AP (I spent a dear $82 on a useless Psych AP)

Yeah, most colleges don't accept AP Psych.

Yeah, most colleges don't accept AP Psych.[/quote[

That's why I'm only taking the course (for an easier ap class with all the benefits of a weighted average :D) but not the ap exam.

Are you doing this senior year because I'm not sure how colleges will look at it if you took the course but not the test.

i figured they would understand if I couldn't afford to spend several hundred dollars on just ap exams (especially useless ones like psych ;) ).
plus, my other ap exams (5's) & nice sat scores might remove any doubts that might arise!

I think the College changed its AP requirements... try searching The DP's website.
