Basically I was wondering if people have thought of back up plans in case they don't end up getting accepted to the schools they are applying to.

When I first talked to my high school dean about transferring she said that there's two types of situations transfer students could be in: 1. Transferring to another school is necessary in which case you should apply to some safety schools that might not be as highly ranked as the school you are attending. Or 2. Transferring would improve your current situation, but you are okay with staying at the school you are currently attending if you don't get accepted to the schools you want to transfer to.

What situation are you guys in? Have you thought of what you would do in case you don't get accepted?

At first I thought I was in the latter situation but the longer I've stayed at the university I'm in, the more I've realized how much I really need to transfer. Looking back, I think I should've applied to some schools that may not be as "prestigious" as the one I'm attending.

As of now, my backup plan would probably be to apply to more schools next semester as a spring transfer, and/or possibly take a semester off or a gap year and work or get an internship somewhere.
