My school just handed out PSAT and PLAN scores yesterday, and i noticed a huge fault in the PLAN grading system. On the reading section, i think i either missed 1 or 2, but I still got a 27 on that section. Same for my friend, who got perfect and still got 30 on the reading section. ( max is 32) I'm not talking about composite, just the reading score. I mean, the other sections were still graded fairly, but has anybody else gotten this from their scores?

My son’s PLAN score was similar - he missed one in reading and received a 27 for that section (30 overall).

I don’t know how exactly it is scored. Are we sure the reading sub score max is 32 and not 30?

I found the answer in an old PLAN test supervisor manual. It essentially says that a perfect score of 32 may not equal 32 (it may instead be a 30) because they want to compare one year’s PLAN scores to other PLAN scores from other years.
