Ok Everyone, so I need help coming up with a plan of action to study for this AP US History test in May. I listened to everyone here and bought AMSCO and REA books, but now I don't know what to do with them! There is clearly a lot of information in them, but I don't know how to attack it all. I have ben taking a class this year. but everythin gwas committed to short-term memory, and I can't remember most of the details any more. Please help me tihnk of something, I'm getting nervous. Thanks!

Do what I did and read them. Then get a 5.

What I'm doing is reading through AMSCO and taking very brief notes on important events, people, places, etc.

In Chapter 1, for example, I have:

-Protestant Reformation - added religious motive for colonization/exploration
-technological improvements, developing nation-states, expanding trade
-Christopher Columbus: backed by Ferdinand and Isabella

and so on...

Just some of the details that I might not already know. For me it helps to write it down, plus I can easily go through it later (rather than 100 pages of way too detailed lecture notes).

Awesome idea, thanks a lot guys, those are the type of suggestions I was looking for

lol yeah, don't do what I'm doing... reading REA and taking notes. I'm on page 65 I think and I'm just barely through WWI (yes, I know I'm way far behind). Once I am finished with my notes, I'll take the time I spent writing them and instead use it to read them in small increments. I'm planning on getting PR soon and just reading that one for a bit more broad review.

Remember that whatever you do it's always wise not only to memorize people and events, but also to understand time periods. That way when the test says "In 1850, blah blah blah" you have background knowledge about the time and so you usually can rule out some of the wrong answers. So make a rough timeline just to make sure you have everything in place.

Oh man you all have done so much. I'm freaking out now. I bought those 2 books too, and I planned to do SOMETHING this weekend, but it's like I don't even have time to read. Argh I hate this stupid subject. Why did I take it..I don't know.
