Planning your schedule?

So I've been going over the recently released courses for this Fall(I'll be a Freshmen) and I'm trying to go ahead and put together a basic time table of what I would like to take. Obviously as a Freshman I'm not going to get everything/at every time that I want, but I'd like to go in with a game plan.

In general, what's the balance between GE Requirements and your Major/classes you like?
For example, based entirely off of 'what I want' I've put together a well-timed schedule with three Anthropology classes, my English requirement, and one of my math requirements.

Foolish/overreaching?

At your school do any of your GE overlap with your major classes?

I’m going to major in Anthropology, focusing on Forensics. So the Humanities/Social Sciences/Natural Sciences should overlap, shouldn’t they?

yes! they definently should. I think personally it’d be a lot easier to get the gen-eds out of the way first, but if you have a few low level classes (100-200s) that overlap as a gen-ed and major/focusing thing they you could also find a way to through them in as well

You should wait until you meet with an adviser. Last year my daughter as an entering freshman had a schedule all worked out, then after meeting with her adviser (at orientation) she ended up with something completely different. That is what advisers are for.

So I double checked the catalog and gen-ed requirements, all three of my anthro classes fulfill the humanities requirement^^ So my whole dream schedule is gen-ed approved! XD

And @kiddie, I realize that nothing is anything until I talk about it with my adviser in June. But I don’t see anything wrong with going in with a game plan and having an idea of what I want. I don’t like being the student who sits there with deer-in-the-headlights eyes and asks “What should I do?” I like to plan.
