Playback devices

Based on recommendations from prior years, I am thinking of purchasing an OontZ Angle 3 Portable Bluetooth Speaker for D for Christmas for Unifieds. The price is right. What devices/speakers are your kids using this year?

We used the JBL Charge back in 2014 - and we liked it so much that I have one, and her sister has one too. She did report to me just this weekend that hers has finally seemed to give up the ghost this year - but both mine and her sisters are going strong (I think MTD uses hers far more frequently than we do) We liked how small and portable it was - the fact that if your device battery is running low - you can attach with a USB and it will play and charge simultaneously - and we liked how well it filled a room with sound. (Sister got it to teach tap classes while she was in undergrad!)

The Anker SoundCore 2 is a very good choice if your budget is very tight ($32.99 on Amazon). It was recommended by TechGearLab as the best bluetooth speaker on a budget.

The Sony XB20 is rated a little higher but costs more ($56 on Amazon). My d has one of these and she swears by it. She used it all summer to teach dance classes and it generates a lot of sound.

If money is no object, the Bose SoundLink Color II ($129) is very highly rated.

We have an Oontz Angle 3 at home, and it works very well- good sound.

^That’s what my D used last year. Worked great.

We picked up the Bose SoundLink Mini Bluetooth Speaker II when it went on sale at B&H this summer for $129. It has served our D well on college auditions so far and she plans to take it with her to school next year. Compact yet well-built with rich sound. It is now discontinued and the price seems to fluctuate.
