Hey...I wanted to ask all of you a quick question. What are my chances of getting into a UC school, particularly UC Davis and UC Berkely, in California? I'm currently a junior with a 4.42 weighted GPA and a 4.00 unweighted GPA, ranked two in my school. I'm involved in CSF, and I am an officer in Interact Club and Key Club as a treasurer and a activities coordinator. Basically, i keep track of the money and organize fundraisers and community service events. Those clubs are service clubs, and I have hundreds of hours of community service. I've also been involved in the National Young Leaders Program for the last 3 years, often traveling to their major leadership camps, including the recent Presidential Inauguration of Barack Obama. I've been involved in the Academic Talent Search Program since i was 12, taking college prepatory courses at Sac State. I think i have a good chance of getting into a UC college, but I suck at timed tests, and my recent experience has really boggled my mind about getting into a UC. Recently, I just took the SATs, and I did horrible. I got a 1590, 500 on critical reading, 510 on math, and 580 on the writing portion. Let's fast foward and say this is my senior year. Can I still get into a UC with my current SAT score, my extracurricular activities, and my coursework in school?

Assuming that your essays are absolutely FANTASTIC (and I mean like the best you have ever written) you MAY have a shot for Davis. But your SAT score is what is killing you. If you can, try taking it again, or even take the ACT. You never know what will happen. Good luck.

honestly… probably not… you REALLY REALLY need to work your SATs.
Studying and practice helps more than you think. I’d invest in a tutor. If you can break 2000 you’re golden.
