School Type- Private.
Gender-Female obviously. No guy would have the name ‘perfectpixie’.
Income Bracket-Low.Shall be requiring full fin. aid.
Hooks-Not a major hook,but…maybe the income bracket?And my mom’s a single parent.

Thank you in advance! I repeat your help would be very much appreciated and is very much required!

If that is all accurate, you seem to have a damn good chance. Make sure your essays reflect your passions and involvements. I wish I was that good at ping-pong…

Yes, it is all accurate. Why wouldn’t it be? I’ve even listed the exact names and places, because I was too lazy to erase them after copy pasting from my mock resume.

Thanks for your opinion jjjjoseph! I hope you said that keeping in mind that I require full FA. :)

Bump please!

So you are trying to convince schools that you spend " 50.89%" of most weeks of the year doing all the table tennis, tutoring, clubs, and debate…Considering you go to school a minimum of 6 hours per day, and maybe you scratch by with 6 hours of sleep…lets do the math…

You do extra stuff more than twice the time of combined school and sleep.

i call BS. I understand this is not near every week of the year, but still…not possible

Um no.The TT hours are completely accurate.Coaching during and after school.Dance accurate. The Drama was during school hrs,I missed all my classes for 2 months, why do you think I left it after a year?Interact and Ed. Board might not be accurate.I had never really thought of the amount of time I spent on them.So I just put an estimate, obv a wrong one. These are during school hrs too though.

And before you ask,yes I’m hardly in class during school.
Still,do you think I should lessen the time?
Thank god for CC,I’d never have got to know this otherwise! :)

The full need bit is going to work against you. In cases like these (few internationals apply ED with full need), they might decide to defer to the RD round; in which case you’re in for some serious competition for money.

Chance threads are for those who are too worried to be confident in themselves. Trust in your ability to do well, and you will. Get worried about all the ways you’ll fail, and you will, unless worrying about your failure makes you turn a switch and succeed. Getting other people’s opinions, especially those who don’t know you, and are mostly high school seniors who don’t really understand the process either, is naive and pointless.

All I know about the application process is I gained respect from people for trying, and more respect for realizing how little chance I had, but putting my best foot forward, and making the most out of whatever situation came my way.

chsowlflax17- That was a very good piece of information and I’m glad you made it to Brown! I shall keep your advice in mind.
However, I come from a background where hardly anyone knows about getting into a US college much less Ivy League. I have no idea if my stats are at par with a Brown aspirant or not. On the other hand, the high schoolers here are more familiar with that and they can provide me with a rough ‘estimate’. I know it’s only advice by high schoolers but it’s probably a better estimate than I could get anywhere else.

Lobzz- Thanks for the info!

Also, I agree with chsowflax17; I think chance threads are useless. All you need to do is present yourself to schools in the best light, and apply to a wide range of places where you’ll be happy. At the end of the day, none of the people on here are going to be evaluating your candidacy.

Perfect, I think you are very strong, and just go an apply! I am also a int’l needing FA, and I know brown is mostly likely not going to accept me, but I will follow my heart, or I will ask “what if” all my life! Your future is in YOUR hand, and then to some extend, in the admissions officers’

Thank you for your opinions everyone!
