Hooks: URM, maybe legacy (not really sure if it’s legacy but my sister went to Columbia so we’ll just say school affiliation)

Notes: Not really sure what to think about my stats tbh. I feel like my ECs are somewhat weak/too well rounded and I have no major awards really. Also my school has never sent anyone to an Ivy. The most selective has been Vandy because a lot of people either want to stay close to home or continue religious education. I am not the best at any of the sports I play but I love playing them and put a lot of heart into it (my basketball coach wrote a rec for me and I’ll bet money it was 10/10).

I didn’t see your list of schools. However, I think that your chances are quite good pretty nearly anywhere. If I were you and if you wanted to go there then I would probably send an application to Stanford understanding that it is a reach.

You do need to apply to a couple of safeties. Also, you need to run the NPC on the schools that you will be applying to and make sure that they are likely to be affordable.

However, 3.9 unweighted GPA is quite good, your URM status will help, and your test scores are strong. I have read many times on CC, and seen once in practice with several students graduating from a very small high school, that going to a high school that does not offer APs is not held against the student. With a class of 20, I don’t see how AP classes would be possible.

There are only a few AP classes available but yea the classes are really small.

Chances of getting into Princeton are going to be lousy anyway, and unfortunately, you’re competing with students who have a long list of AP classes. Good news is that EE and CS degrees are employable out of college and the school you go to really doesn’t make a difference. If you live in TN, you would do just as well going to Univ of Tenn. You could likely get a scholarship as well.
