8888 is partially right.. the critics in CC have very high standards.. you don't HAVE to have above 2100 to be admitted to UCLA.. thats overrating it.. my friend got into LA with a 1790 and a 4.1 with one C.. as long as you do well on the personal statement.. it should be fine.. the average SAT is a 2000 that means 50% of the people of lower than that depending on your school.

the average SAT is a 2000? um...no, it's more like 1500...and the SAT score isn't what most chancers here are citing. it isn't "having high standards" to expect an applicant for schools like UCLA to have good AP test scores

the average at UCLA is..
and fyi
UCLA looks at your AP test scores but it doesn't hurt or help you in admissions.. says University of California - Counselors

i dunn these days those stats will not get you into berkeley or la, and no chance with stanford and harvard. But your friend will get into uc irvine id say

@dorkO: Oh, I was looking at the phrase "depending on your school"

The thing is, I would think that low AP scores would reflect poorly though. While it might not be computed into an Academic Index or something, but if the admcoms see it, wouldn't they think that the applicant didn't really learn the material that well, even if they got good grades in the class?
