Please chance me and recommend schools - transfer

<p>I am looking to transfer to a more academically challenging school. I want to major in computer science. Please chance me for these schools and suggest any other schools that I could apply to.</p>

<p>*Caucasian Male
*Current School: Appalachian State University
*Entering as: Junior
*High School GPA: 2.8 (3.2 weighted)
*College GPA: 3.78 (will go up after this semester)
*SAT: 1900 (reading: 650, math: 590, writing: 660)
*ECs:
-50+ volunteer hours at local "pay what you can" restaurant.
-captain of 3 different intramural sports teams.
-musician -- self taught on several instruments. have played in several bands. over summer recorded an album and organized an east coast tour.
*Course-load: my course-load in college hasn't been that rigorous. I spent my freshman year and the current semester mainly doing general education because I didn't know what I wanted to major in yet. I decided on computer science this semester so I am now taking the intro class (I will easily get an A). </p>

<p>Please chance me for the following schools:
-Carnegie Mellon School of Computer Science
-MIT
-Stanford
-Oberlin College
-Bard College
-Bates College
-Carleton College</p>

<p>If anyone has any suggestions for schools that I should look into, please let me know.
What else can I do this semester and winter break to improve my chances of getting into these schools?
Finally, if there is any other information I can provide, please let me know.</p>

<p>Thanks!</p>

<p>Carnegie Mellon: High Reach.
MIT: Out of Reach.
Stanford: Out of Reach.
Oberlin: High Reach.
Bard: High Reach.
Bates: High Reach.
Carleton: High Reach / Out of Reach.</p>

<p>You’re really looking at some top tier places without top tier stats and ECs. Both of your GPAs aren’t the best, your ECs are sort of weak, and your scores don’t really even touch the bottom of the middle 50. I would not apply to any of the schools on your list.</p>

<p>I truly suggest you stay in ASU. If you’re really determined to transfer, and you’re in state for ASU, then retake your SATs and try for UNC Chapel Hill.</p>

<p>[Chance</a> back?](<a href=“http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1560268-emory-gw-chance-will-chance-back.html]Chance”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1560268-emory-gw-chance-will-chance-back.html)</p>

<p>Thanks for your input. Is retaking the SAT really a good idea for a potential transfer student though? I am going to work this year on EC’s before I apply. I also think that a 3.8 is a pretty good GPA. Yeah, it could be a 4.0. </p>

<p>Any other opinions?</p>
