I'm thinking of applying to Colgate. I had a LOT of tough times in high school. The one that was most severe was when my grandfather died in freshman year. I was EXTREMELY close to him, and it took me 2 yrs to get over that.

My grades suffered during those tough times (not severely but still) and now, I am a rising senior with a 3.0 unweighted, 3.5 weighted GPA under my belt. (Yikes!) I have mostly AP/Honors, recieved numerous volunteering awards and am involved in a few clubs. I tried my junior year, and got a 2190 SAT (yes!!) I plan on retaking it to score a 2400 and am planning on starting a new club in my school in this (my senior) year!

I am attending Harvard Summer School, and taking General Chemistry this current summer. I plan to end up with at LEAST an A-, and so far, it looks like I'm well ahead of my goal (95 average currently).

PLEASE Tell me how much of a chance I really have! This university is one of my TOP choices and are there any other Top 30 Universities I can get into?

If you need more detail, I WILL add some more!!

And please, I know I have a LOW chance, but can you tell me HOW low, instead of criticizing? THANKS!

just kidding girl. you’ve got a really good chance i’d say. your sat scores and extracurriculars are solid, and your gpa is good enough to get you in.

but honestly, don’t stress about it too much. do your best and enjoy your senior year of high school while you’re still there :)

Please guys I hope I don’t sound like a stupid whiner but lately I can’t sleep cause of this question
Answer that I have no chance if you want to but at least answer

You keep bumping, but it just makes people testier and less likely to want to help you.

I say that if you really want to get in you should apply ED. It will up your chances.

You should also note that Colgate cares about SAT scores a fair amount, but if your writing score was far higher than the others it doesn’t look as good. Colleges still distrust the writing section on the SAT due to its recent introduction.

Also, your geographical location matters. Are you from anywhere “unique”? (aka not NJ, NY, CT, MA, PA, ect.?)

Eh, it’s okay. I remember the stress, though I personally didn’t get attached to a school. Colgate’s a cool place so I can understand. I didn’t actually go, but it was my 3rd choice of the 6 I got into.

I imagine you’ve shown a ton of interest to the admissions, cause that can occasionally give you the extra edge.
