If you read this all, thank you!

UCLA and UCB are test blind through the 2025 admission cycle so GPA and HS course rigor will be heavily weighted.

UC’s have their own GPA calculation (3 UC GPA’s) and only AP/IB and UC Transferable DE courses will be given the extra honors points for weighting as an Out of State applicant. They use 10-11th grades only for the UC a-g course requirements in their GPA calculation. Make sure if applying, you have a year of a Visual/Performing Arts course since this is a UC requirement.

UCLA and UCB should be considered Reach schools and make sure they are affordable at $65K/year with little to no financial aid as an OOS applicant.

Best of luck.

Thank you for replying! I took an art class over the summer between freshman and sophomore year, would this fulfill the requirement even though it is technically not in 10th grade?

The a-g course requirements must be fulfilled from 9th-12th grades. The GPA for the UC’s is based only the grades for classes taken the summer prior to 10th through the summer prior to 12th. As long as you have taken a VPA anytime during your 4 years in HS, you will be fine.
