Essay/Other:

My essay will undoubtedly be the best part of my resume. I have a very good idea for what I will write about. However, it plays off of something negative that occurred in my Sophomore year... read on.

Legacy:
Mother went to Georgetown
Father went to UPenn
Grandmother went to Cornell
Two brothers went to Rhodes

THE HOOK:

I was dismissed from a private military school for insubordination and disrespect. I hated it there, and wanted out because I saw a lot of things happening that I didn't approve of. "Leaders" hit the younger kids and everyone there did drugs. It was not a good environment at all and I felt the only way I could leave was to be disrespectful. I'm not EXCUSING my behavior (seeing as there really is no reason to be disrespectful to adults), but it is why I did what I did.

I think you have a pretty good chance of getting in to those schools, just make sure you explain thoroughly your thought prosess in getting out of that school with disrespect so that they don’t think that if you end up not liking their school you will be disrespectful. Otherwise it should be okay, good luck!

Bump bump bump bump bump

I think you have a good chance at Dartmouth. My brother got in ED with similar stats (his SAT score was a bit higher–2250 but his gpa was similar) and a similar number of extracurriculars (he was more focused on science research.) Maybe bring your SAT score up a bit? The only thing I’d be truly concerned about would be your dismissal from a military school. I’m not sure how it would look, especially if some of the admissions officers are extremely uptight or conservative.
